Is the Ultraformer painful?

One of the most commonly asked questions with regards to non-surgical treatments is, “Is the Ultraformer painful?”
The Ultraformer is a popular skin tightening treatment that uses HIFU, (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) energy. HIFU will stimulate the body to regenerate collagen and give a tightening and lifting effect.
In order for the Ultrasound to work, it’s energy is directed to the deeper layers of your skin. So, the big question… Is the Ultraformer painful?
Dr Sanjay Mohindra from Coolangatta Cosmetic Clinic on the Gold Coast in QLD says, “I have had the treatment myself. It’s a slight discomfort. It feels like little bit tingling sensation when you do the treatment. Eight out of ten people do not complain, but the occasional person finds it a little bit unpleasant, but obviously, it is not for long. It is only for a short period of time and you have a little bit of sensitivity on the area for a week or so.”
After an Ultraformer treatment, the patient may have red skin that lasts anywhere up to a few hours.
A patient may experience minor bruising and swelling that can occur up to several days after the procedure.
Some patients also report having slightly numb skin and/or a tingling sensation for a few days to a few weeks after the procedure. Listen to what Dr Jason Oates had to say about the Ultraformer here.
So, is the Ultraformer painful?
For most patients, the answer is no.
At most, a little tingling or numbing of the skin for a few days afterwards. Any discomfort for patients concerned about the feeling can be eliminated by painkillers or numbing cream beforehand.
Most physicians will suggest this to their patients at the time of booking the treatment.
